Fingerprint Friday

I discovered today from one of the fabulous ladies leaving a comment on my blog, another blog called PamperingBeki(http://pamperingbeki.blogspot.com/) . She talks of Fingerprint Friday and quotes a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that sings:

I can see the fingerprints of God

When I look at you

I can see the fingerprints of God

And I know its true

You're a masterpiece

That all creation quietly applauds

And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

Whether it's God or Great Spirit or Goddess to you.. to me it's got to be a higher power that brings me my most beautiful and prized gifts. I feel so deeply honoured to care for my children.. it is what I live for everyday to see them wake up in the morning. To see them smile and to get that first sleepy morning hug! This song.. these words bring tears to my eyes. I haven't heard anything so beautiful in some time. Thank you Beki for offering this opportunity to us. :)

These pictures are of a trip to the beach a few days ago. The tide was out and there were God's fingerprints EVERYWHERE with all the beautiful and colourful sealife.

The Beautiful Mandala

A remarkable Goddess that I am honoured to know, showed off her very first Mandala. I became so inspired by her sweet childlike enthusiasm and excitement I had to take a perfect opportunity to work with the children visiting and hanging around the house. Nothing more exciting then a messy project on a rainy cool day.

So out comes the paints and markers and glitter oh my! We sketched out our designs and I danced with my little Tibetan singing bowl around each of them. I LOVE how perfectly peaceful children are with this sort of thing.. instinctively closing their eyes for a moment and allowing the vibration to soften their auras and ease their concerns over what was right about the project and what was wrong! There are NO MISTAKES is the only rule I was sure to remind them. You must NOT doubt the song in your heart!

So over the course of a couple of days, these are the master Mandalas co-created by 6, 7, 8 and 9 year old children, with and in their open hearts. There were Hearts, Stars of Davids, Spiders, Starbursts and Psychic Eyes. Suns and Pyramids and Twinkling Planets. I think they are all truly beautiful and they are all very proud of their work. One mentioned it was exactly what was seen when they closed their eyes.. another said it turned out more beautiful then they even thought it could! One didn't even really want to start it to begin with but ended up asking to be included after all and they themselves enjoying it immensely! And, one of the children said she wasn't really sure what she was doing but is really pleased with how it turned out! One of the little girls, who comes to play almost daily, smiled at me knowingly and said.. "I 'knew' this was a magical house. Even before I knew who lived in it.. I knew I was going to come and meet them." (You can guess how this just melted my heart to a puddle on the floor). Children are so intuitive and open. They are so filled with excitement and Joy. The know secrets about life that we adults tend to forget. And to take a moment and put everything aside and just sit and listen and play with them.. we learn so much and we remember so much.
I can't wait for what's next! :D

A Beautiful Day

We went on vacation for a few days over Father's Day. We accomplished alot in a short amount of time! I thought that this heart shaped cloud was a sign of the fun times again. :)

A beautiful thing happened over the weekend while on vacation. I was visiting an amazing Lavender Farm with a very dear friend who I am so happy to have spent time with.

This is my dear friend in her element. (Notice no digital camera here.. nope.. you know those die hard artist types.. yep.. ;D --->

While calling/chasing/teaching/playing with our little ones around the lavender passed a lovely group of women relaxing in the sun at the farm. Just enjoying the moment and sites and smells.. and their own company. A lovely smile from them all, a light joke and a wave and on we go not thinking anymore of it.
While packing our little ones in all set to head off for our picnic, I noticed a beautiful bright colourful belt on one of the ladies heading to her car and mentioned that I liked their belt. She promptly came to the other side of our vehicle.. called my name (we can't quite figure out how she knew it).. and took off her belt and offered it to me! I was a little stunned! And, more then a little humbled and grateful! She was sure she wanted me to have it and said her name was Cecelia and she is from Mexico as the belt is as well. I quickly felt the call to gift her back with something of meaning myself and offered her an anklet I had made. I noticed that she was as touched as I and it was quite a special moment to share linked in this way with a complete stranger from another part of the world so different from our own little space in life. An odd feeling that I have trouble describing. A reminder of how we are all connected. As different as we all are, we are also all deeply connected. We are all one experiencing this life together. Sharing, caring, loving.
This belt and this beautiful ladies kindness and generosity is something that I will forever hold dear to me. It's not just a belt.. it's a symbol of the light and the good in this world.
It's a symbol of Inner Peace. World Peace. Unity. Love.
I came home feeling refreshed, recharged, optimistic and with a deep knowing that there are wonderful and truly caring people in this world. I deep knowing this is world is a lovely place to be a part of. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here. To live and to learn and to laugh together. You might say.. my Root Chakra got a tune up. ;)

Theadore at 5 weeks

More Puppies!! Can't get enough of these adorable little boys and girls.

So my Mom went for a visit and it seems her puppy picked her! They say it's the only way to choose an animal is to let the animal choose you. Lets hope they end up together forever! The cute little puppy's name is Theadore with the Blue coloured collar ran to my Mom right away. A sure sign of love at first sight! Gentle and snuggly.. the perfect companion for my Mom and Rick who are by the way amazing with dogs! I grew up teasing her and actually thinking for a spell that my Mom loved our dogs more then she loved me! LOL Now, being an adult and all, I know this isn't true! ;D But, having two busy little children of my own I can understand how some days she may have actually preferred the dogs company! ;)

Cute little bugs created by the hands of my daughter. We thought they could help keep our turtle friend happy. :)

I spy a butterfly, as soft and gentle as the sky!

I haven't blogged for so long! Partly because I'm not really sure what to say and partly because I just seem to run out of time! But, it doesn't have to be big! Just something little.. something interesting I heard or a smart quote I came across. So, we'll see if I can follow through and keep things updated daily.. almost daily anyway!

A quote I heard today, that I love:

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind!"

~Dr. Seuss

On another note, they have the most wonderful children's stuffies out there. This one was the last one in a local dollar store of all places and of course 'Blueberry' which evolved from Blue Unicorn Bear, came home with my daughter! Magical Healing it says. :)

Spare the rod, Spoil the child?

This morning, my daughter woke up smiling and cheerful as normal. She got dressed and ate a big yummy breakfast. She bounced in her seat on the way to school reminding me how she was going to show her loved teacher that she lost her 3rd tooth and that her Daddy pulled it out and that her tooth has big roots which means she is very healthy. She was also excited for her teacher to see that she got 10/10 on her last spelling test since she wasn't there to mark it on Friday.

She walked into the classroom, saw that her teacher wasn't there again this morning and with big eyes welling up with fast tears she told me with horror.. "Mrs. B isn't here again!" Mommy can you stay please with her big deer eyes pleading with me. At this point my own tears were threatening to leak from the crack in my heart. I felt as disappointed as she did! I gave her a huge hug and got her busy on her way writing her new spelling words down. She held onto my finger, determined that I was just going to stay the day with her. I couldn't. I took my son to his kinder class and walked back past her room to peek at her and still the big well of tears in her eyes.

My little girl is far from a drama queen. She is sweet and open and outspoken. If she doesn't like something, you'll know it. If she does, you'll know that too. If her friends all love the same thing and she doesn't... that's okay with her. She doesn't pretend or lie. She is wholeheartedly herself! I am so proud of her for it. Her Spirit charms me every single day.
So, I'm going to bring her home early with me today when I pick up my son. Some of you I'm sure are jumping up and down going.. on no. Don't do that. She needs to know she can't have everything the way she wants it. You'll spoil her. You'll do this and that and it's all wrong!
But know what? I don't believe that you can spoil a child with Love. So what if she doesn't want to be in class with a sub teacher. I've had a few very beautiful conversations with a close friend about showing Love in all situations to our children (and to each other). As long as I'm showing my children good morals, good values and virtues then I am going to spoil them until pigs grow butterfly wings! Aha!

Gingerbread Houses and Crazy Creative Authors

Hello terrific Tuesday!

My son brought home the most amazing smelling gingerbread house since gingerbread houses have entered the traditions in our home! Oh sweet chocolate and caramel. Yes, a Delicious graham cracker house doused in a sweet vanilla icing and dabbled with candy cane pieces, hard strawberry candies and chocolates! Then he topped it all over with caramel!!! Honestly, if someone knows anyone who sells good quality incense that smell like chocolate and caramel please please I beg you to tell me as soon as possible!
And, another fabulous gift in my day was my chance meeting with Canadian author Gordon Kirkland at a fabulous little bookstore called Heron's Books! What a blessing in this day to have met him and his brother-in-law who is a self proclaimed worlds biggest KISS fan and soon to be author of a cookbook!
On the day after I get my daughters report card with more 2's then I can to see, I am able to let go of my fears and concerns for her future and trust without a doubt in my heart that I need to continue doing what I'm doing and keep letting my daughter spread her beautiful wings. He reminded me without even having to say it, that not everyone fits into the boxes that society sets out for us and the greatest entertainers in this world were not always the ones that sat quietly, nodded nicely and always minded their p's and q's. The greatest entertainers in this world shook things up... they make us think twice before we blink because we are told to blink.
Okay, back to Gordon Kirkland, if you need a good belly laugh and your heart or mind eased I highly recommend one of his many terrific books. Some of his titles include Justice is Blind: And Her Dog Just Peed In My Cornflakes, Never Stand Behind A Loaded Horse and my personal favorite When My Mind Wanders It Brings Back Souvenirs.
Gordon Kirkland: "When Pavlov rang his bell, his dog would drool. Whenever anyone rang our bell, Nipper, the late, great dumbest dog to ever get lost on a single flight of stairs would pee. Same concept. Different end of the dog. " My tummy actually hurts from laughing so hard!
He is putting on a writers workshop at Heron's Book Store in January. I am hoping to attend and maybe something will open so that I'm able to if it's for the highest good. :)
It's funny how life works, when you stay alert and open the universe will invariably, take care of you. Always, the perfect person, opportunity, book, song, whisper, inspiration will happen at the right moment. You have to keep your ears, eyes and heart open to recognize it when it comes but it comes... guaranteed the guidance will come. Trust and all will be okay. Trust and let go and life will take you exactly where you are supposed to be in order to reach your highest potential in this life. It's rather exciting when you think about it! The opportunities to learn and grow and expand are endless!
